Your Voices needed NOW to improve Broadband in Maine!

The next few weeks are a critical period for those interested in improving broadband in Maine. If this topic interests you, there are vital ways for you to learn and get involved.

ConnectME Authority Strategic Planning Forums

The first is a series of public forums to be held by the ConnectME Authority in order to help them formulate their first triennial strategic plan for improving broadband in Maine. The ConnectME Authority is an agency of the State of Maine dedicated to improving broadband in rural areas. A recent act of the legislature also gave it the responsibility for coming up with a strategic plan for improving broadband in all of Maine. The legislature gave ConnectME a tight deadline for coming up with the plan, so they are moving fast.

The four meetings are being held at locations around the state. You should come and let the Authority know what your community needs and what you think should be in a strategic plan. This is particularly important for people in cities and towns, because in the past the Authority has only worked with the most rural communities. These meetings are open to the public, free, and no registration is required. There are rumors, however, of free cookies on a first come first served basis.
